Yes, the talented actress who has successfully made a switch to the mainstream with films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Ek Thi Daayan, has been chosen to play one of the female leads in the movie.
Raj & DK have started shooting for the film in Los Angeles. “After YJHD, the fact that she is playing an important character in Raj and DK’s film proves that the actress has finally been accepted in Bollywood,” a source is quoted as saying by a tabloid.
Kalki Koechlin was able to make an impression right from her very first film Dev. D, but many Bollywood filmmakers were wary of signing her because of her non-Indian looks and consequent limited appeal. But things have certainly changed after YJHD, in which she played the sweet tomboy Aditi with aplomb. While her husband Anurag Kashyap believes that she can improve on her performances, Kalki is happy with the kind of movies and roles that are coming her way.
The actress too has confirmed that she is doing Raj & DK’s film starring Saif Ali Khan. Kalki Koechlin thinks that both Raj & DK have a great sense of humour, and is happy for her role in the movie, which according to her has wonderful comic bent.
However, reports also suggest that the Barfi! wonder Ileana D'Cruz is also in the film playing Saif’s love interest.
